June 5th, 2015We are excited to announce that our very own Explore Austin participant, Adan, recently received a scholarship to attend a month long NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) course in the Wind River Range in Wyoming.Adan began our program in the 6th grade. Looking back, he is convinced that at 12 years old he was “headed down the wrong path”. While in the Explore Austin program (6th- 12th grade), he built significant relationships with his mentors (which he still maintains today), and learned many life lessons through outdoor adventure with his team. He grew into a young leader and a successful student, and now feels confident that he is “on a path to success”. And his Mentors and the Explore Austin staff wholeheartedly agree that he has a bright future ahead!

During April 2014, I decided to bring one of my explorers, Tylynn, to “Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work” day with me. The "Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work" program was created to “go beyond just shadowing what a parent or mentor does during the work day—but to show them the value of their education and provide an opportunity to share how they envision their future.”Read More...

My name is Rodolfo Galvan and I am in the Explore Austin class of 2015. I first started Explore when I was in 6th grade. I remember writing my application to Explore Austin, in fact, it was the first application I had submitted in my life. I was only 12 years old. I had it all nice and tidy in a manilla folder, which I used to refer to as a vanilla folder, I soon learned they weren’t the same things, but that’s a completely different story. Today I am here to talk to you all about the impact Explore Austin has had on my life and why it remains important to me.

Community support is essential for the success of Explore Austin and the future of our Explorers. TGM Wind Services is Explore Austin's newest community partner and we could not be more excited to welcome them to the Explore Family. This past October, TGM was the Event Sponsor of our 2nd Annual Fall Backyard Ball that raised over $12,000 for our Explorer Program.
TGM Wind Services provides energy services primarily concentrated within renewable wind energy. Based in Abilene, TGM already made their mark in their hometown community as a strong supporter of the West Texas Rehab and youth organizations, such as the Boy Scouts of America.
As one of the newest residents to Austin, TGM was in search of an opportunity to become plugged in to the Austin community and found inspiration in the Explore Austin mission.Read More...

Since 2006, seventy of Austin’s best and brightest have stepped up to make a difference in our community. They each committed to changing the lives of underserved youth – a vulnerable population waiting for a chance to be leaders.
August 13th, 2014Written by Chansin Esparza, Expore Austin Staff Member2020 KACP Girls*Names have been changedAfter spending seven days in the wilderness with fourteen 12-year-old girls, I was reminded of the one thing it seems all young girls need: opportunities to build self-confidence. I could tell they needed it and craved it. Some of the girls were painfully shy – to the point of freezing and being unable to speak when it was their turn to play a game.
